Hi Guys (and Gals where appropriate)

My 03 TDi has begun playing up 72000 miles and no problems now a biggy.

The clutch pedal operates the clutch but after a couple of miles the pedal operation is only about 30% of its travel.

If I lift the pedal with my toes it appears to, after a couple of pumps, to be OK again for a bit.

Is it the master cylinder sticking or the salve cylinder or is it the clutch release bearing?

I thought it was the pedal and master cylinder but the fact that it slowly looses the pedal feel I am beginning to think it might be the slave cylinder, what do you guys think?

Has anyone got the elsawin cd (?) section they can email me as the Ford TIS is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard on this one ?

Cheers guys if not does anyone know if there is an inspection cover onthe 6 Speed box where I can lubricate the release bearing and shaft ?

:P :D :D :P :D

I had the same problem on a volvo,,,and it was ageing fluid that caused the problem

I thought of that, but his car is a 03.

Hi

my 03 Gal has done 73000 miles would that be "old" enough to suffer from the failing brake fluid ?

what were the symptoms of the failure, do they mimic what i am seeing/feeling in anyway as it appears this is not an unusual fault ?

Hello Niel,

Mine was a complete failure. First sympton was pedal would not return to up position a couple of times quickly, as normal, then pushed the pedal down and it stayed on the floor.

Could not pull the pedal up at all by hand.

Hope this helps you a bit.
